| The Prenatal Diagnosis Center has five Masters level certified genetic counselors. Genetic counselors are medical professionals who act as part of a prenatal care team. They are specially trained to discuss the technical and medical aspects of prenatal development, screening, and testing, as well as the social and emotional concerns surrounding these issues. |

The Prenatal Diagnosis Center is a service of the UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal medicine. The Clinic provides testing for women who, for a variety of reasons, may be facing complicated pregnancies.
Services available through our center include first trimester screening (FIRST), second trimester Quad screening, targeted ultrasound, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and amniocentesis. Patients are seen for a variety of indications including: family history concerns, abnormal ultrasound findings, abnormal screening results, prenatal exposures, and increased maternal age.
