Newborn Critical Care Center (NCCC) Clinical Guidelines
The UNC Newborn Critical Care Center (NCCC) guidelines are intended to assist providers with the clinical management of patients in the neonatal intensive care unit. These guidelines serve as reference guides and are provided only to assist providers make clinical decisions regarding the management of patients. These guidelines do not establish a standard of care and do not substitute for the individual professional judgment necessary for each specific clinical presentation. The ultimate judgment regarding the management of a specific patient must be made by the provider and the patient, taking into account such factors as characteristics of the individual patient, healthcare resources, and regional experience with diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. These guidelines are reviewed and updated on a revolving schedule and are current to the date noted at the end of each guideline.
